Campaña de invierno, una etapa de la especialización
El Director de la Escuela de Especialidades, Coronel Claudio Henríquez Valenzuela, llegó hasta Malalcahuello, localidad ubicada en la región de la Araucanía, donde el Curso 2023 de Montaña o Fronteras realizó su periodo de campaña en terreno en Técnicas y tácticas especiales en zonas nevadas.
La actividad académica se materializa en julio y, dependiendo de la cantidad de nieve caída, se realiza en el paso Los Libertadores o en Loquimay como fue en esta oportunidad. Aquí los alumnos aprenden a esquiar y a constituir una patrulla de búsqueda. Para ello cursan módulos de Construcción de Refugios Invernales, Esquí de Pista, Esquí de Randonnée (técnica que permite caminar por valles y subir cerros, para luego descender por sus laderas), Anclajes en Nieve, Encordamiento y Rescate en Grietas, Autodetenciones con Piolet y Técnicas de Rescate de Víctimas de Avalancha.
Lo anterior habilita al futuro fronterizo a sobrevivir en terrenos nevados y a realizar patrullajes de soberanía en esas áreas.
Sin embargo, el trabajo en la montaña también es parte de la formación inicial y en ese contexto, Aspirantes a Oficial del 3° Escuadrón realizaron su Práctica Policial II en terrenos nevados. En ella recibieron instrucciones de seguridad, para iniciar adecuadamente los desplazamientos a los distintos módulos que conforman esta experiencia académica.
